Goodbye For Now

Not quite a year ago, I boarded the Romance Writer’s Revenge. I felt apprehensive, but excited to embark on a new journey with a group of ladies who shared my dream. They welcomed me with open arms and in a course of a few months; I became a better writer because of their influence. It is with a tear in my eye and a tug of my heart that today I am saying goodbye to this fine sea worthy vessel.

In the past few months, I have struggled with maintaining focus on my writing goals, so I have decided to step away from the writing arena and reassess what I need to do to get back on track. My plan is to take a break from writing, and do a little soul searching.

I want to thank the wonderful women who make this blog happen every day. They are four talented writers to which I owe a tremendous amount of thanks. I appreciate each of you for believing in me, and allowing me to share my ponderings. I promise to come by from time to time and make sure the rum is flowing, and Hellion is sharing the Jack Sparrow love.

I also want to thank everyone who took time out of their day to comment when I posted. You gave me the encouragement to share my vision. I’ve learned a great deal from the discussions, and insight you have all shared. You truly are a blessing to me.

Now for a parting toast.

*Raising my cup of rum high in the air*

May your words flow in an effortless stream onto the paper and in translation bring a sigh from the reader’s lips.

THIS JUST IN....BO'SUN TERRIO IS HIJACKING THIS BLOG

I couldn't let you leave without giving you a present.  So this is from me.

Ranger
He even has the required Steph & Ranger tattoo.  LOL!  LOVE YA, GIRL!!!

Darn it!

I tuned in over breakfast expecting the usual Lisa Friday treat and .......

Cap'n please check that the Jolly Roger is at half mast and open the good stuff....I need a stiff drink after this!

I guess its Au Revoir time then dear lady....*clinks glasses*

Good luck Lisa and I hope you can sort out those inner demons and return soon, for you have given much pleasure.

Lisa,

Hope you won't be gone long. A little soul searching is always good. Perhaps the next time Writer's Revenge is in port you'll jump aboard.

Cap'n is a cannon salute out of the question? Let's send Lisa off with some noise so she'll know how much she'll be missed.

Fridays won't be the same without you. I totally get you---I blog in 3 places and I think I should have my head examined. Good luck getting down to basics. This whole writing thing is harder than Nora Roberts makes it look, LOL. 21-gun salute for your send-off, but hope to see you cruising the waters again!

AH, shucks... I finally get on the net for a few hours (evil boss lady, otherwise known as devil at my back--literally--is not here today... woohoo internet time, I'm going through serious withdrawal--though that doesn't help me for the weekend without my computer)

I'm going to miss you Lisa... I hope you find yer land legs! And what Maggie said...come swim the waters when there aren't so many sharks threatening your sanity :)

Marnee Jo said...

Lis - I hope you know how much I (we) adore you and your writing. I'll miss you a lot but wish you only the best as you sort out your thoughts.

Stop by often or I'll be forced to tap into this ship's firepower!

MWA!

There's not supposed to be crying on a Friday! But I'm crying on a Friday! This is so wrong.

Lis - First of all, we LOVE you and if you think you're going to shake us this easy, you're wrong. You may not be posting blogs every week, but once a pirate always a pirate. We take care of our own. So don't think you're rid of us, deary.

You stepping back just means we're stepping up until you're ready to take your spot back. It's always here and so are we.

I'll pass on one lesson I've learned over the last couple of years. Sanity is overrated. :)

A toast to the Powder Monkey! The best damn pirate this side of Tortuga!

Here here!!

I really don't have time to cry today...

Quantum- What can I say? I have so enjoyed your humor and scientific correlations to our literary muses. I appreciate your encouragement. *hugs*

Renee- I'll never forget the emails we shared early in my blogging days. You helped me put a lot of my moral beliefs in perspective in relation to writing. You're a fabulous lady, and I wish you all the best.

Maggie, I admire you for maintaining three blogs, you definately are Super Woman! I can't seem to blog and chew gum at the same time:) I admire you so much, and I will definately drop in on your blog from time to time.

Tiff- I appreciate your comments and support of my blog, it's much appreciated. *air kisses*

Marnee my sister pirate- I only see greatness and success in your future. You are the rock star writer of historical romance, I look forward to you publishing:) Thank you for believing in me. *big sloppy hugs*

Teri- My sister in angst:) I wish you only the best. You have given me insight into my characters, and my writing. I sincerely thank you for all your encouragement:) Love you mean it:)

Q, I was just as floored as you were when she asked to leave; however, this is not the British Navy--I couldn't press-gang her into continuing her service if she didn't have the heart for it any longer.

I was TEMPTED, but I decided not to do it.

The Jolly Roger is at HALF-MAST, and all the Hotties are tear-stricken as we speak. (Though they'd never CRY, they're far too macho. However, they are thinking up new and creative ways to comfort the pirates in our time of sorrow. *flipping open her SEX POSITION BIBLE and showing it to Jack*)

And yes, I'm all for a cannon-salute...and INSISTING that the moment she wants to return, she hurries back to board the ship. I know she will be greatly missed.

And definitely more toasts to our imcomparable (and irreplaceable, despite what she may have suggested in emails to me) POWDER MONKEY! Don't let the world miss out on your voice forever--it needs it. And hurry back, please. We love you!

Why is the rum gone? Can't you see we're in pain here? WE NEED MORE RUM!

terrio said...

*rolls in more rum*

This is just crazy talk. She's not really leaving, is she? Seriously, we can't operate without the proper fire power. And THAT'S what our Powder Monkey is for. That and to rip our hearts out every Friday.

I do believe I'll maintain my denial mode. She's not leaving. Of course she isn't....

*sits back to review Captains SEX POSITIONS book*

Oh, I like this one....

Marnee Jo said...

*plopping down next to Terri to check out the book*

I'm with Ter. Denial denial. She knows she can't stay away from us for long.... We're irresistable! And look at the hotties....

And thank you Lis. You're the sweetest.

Marnee Jo said...

Er, that was irresistible. Sheesh... I'm all a-twitter.

terrio said...

*turns the page then turns to Marn*
Is that even possible?!?!

We could kidnap her. Kidnapping is a pirate thing to do, isn't it? Once we're out to sea there's no where for her to go. It's the perfect plan.

Who has the rope?

Marnee Jo said...

*turning the book sideways, then upside-down, before returning it to its proper positioning* That man is very flexible. We should get a few flexible crewmembers, don't you agree?

Kidnapping... the idea has merit, though I doubt it would work. She still has the keys to the combustibles on this ship, you know.

terrio said...

Good point. And that Ranger friend of hers would probably swing by to rescue her.

*Looks at Marn with a gleam in her eye*

I'll get the rope, you get the duct tape.

Hellion said...

If you think a little rope or duct tape is going to stop Ranger, you two have not been reading the fan fiction Sin & Lisa have been writing. He's just going to think you're up for a little foreplay.

Look at position 241. OMG! Who can do that?

stef said...

I hate it when people leave.... Makes me want to grab the bottle of rum.
I've loved every little thing I've read by you Lisa, but I think you already know that. I hope you'll find what you're looking for and that we'll see you back on board from time to time.
hugs

stef

terrio said...

Were you not paying attention? I'm not trying to stop him, I'm trying to bait him.

Position 317 looks like fun but must require lots of lube.

Hellion said...

oh, GREAT idea...and I'm pretty sure Ranger would be excellent at the 241 then.

terrio said...

I think he'd like 183 better. Handcuffs. 'Nuff said.

terrio said...

For the record, Captain gave me permission for the hijacking....LOL!

Hellion said...

Only if the handcuffs are attached to a shower rod. *LOL*

Skirbo said...

Wishing you absolutely the best of luck. Those inner demons are a bugger, believe me, I know. I'm still beating mine back with a stick on an almost daily basis.

Lisa said...

I stop for a minute to check in and discover lued and racy conduct...that's the pirates I know and love:) You all are too much, I will miss the off color banter, and rum swizzling. I promise to stop by and join in the fray when I can. *hugs to the captain*

Sarah, Thank you for stopping by, I appreciate the good wishes:)

Lisa said...

*Looking around for Ranger*

Come to me baby, you know you wanna:)

JK Coi said...

Lisa, so sorry you have to go, but I wish you only the very very best!

Renee Lynn Scott said...

Lisa, I received just as much from our emails. I've not read anything other than your blogs so I can't judge your voice too much, but I can say that I sense a beautiful spirit, one that has much to write about. I look forward to the day you jump back on board.

Anyhoo, if you ever need anything, feel free to send me a message in a bottle. I'll be watching for it.

Hugs,

Renee

Lisa said...

*sending big cyber hugs to my Bat sister Stef*

I love you Babe!

Lisa said...

Renee,

Don't be surprised if you find that message if a bottle comes floating your way:)

Lisa said...

JK, Thank you! I will miss your insightful comments:)

Lisa said...

Terri, you are the best hacker I know! Love you, and the eye candy. *kisses*

terrio said...

To be fair, the top pic is courtesy of the Captain. LOL!

Now I'm off to no internet land for the weekend! I'm sorry I have to ditch the wake so soon. I'm serious about that not getting rid of us thing. You're always a part of this crew!

MWAH!!!

Sin said...

Unfortunately for Lisa, I know where she lives. LOL. My soul sista, I dunno what I'll do without you kid. Now who am I going to share all the freaky Ranger limbo games with? You know I hate training newbies.

Irisheyes said...

Lisa, I'll miss your voice every Friday, but definitely understand the needing a break thing. As I'm writing this and trying to make it sound heartfelt and sincere as well as positive and grammatically correct I've had 5 (count them f-i-v-e) interruptions! Two from the daughter, two from the son and 1 from the hubby (half-day fridays are really starting to annoy me!). I hope your soul searching helps you find the motivation to write again even if it's for your eyes only!

*Irish waving goodbye while looking longingly at the book Marnee and Terri and drooling over*

I come back from me jaunt by the sea and this is what I find? Lisa... ye ol' pirate wench... this can't be... Call Capn Jack! Weigh anchor! Drop ye treasure in haste! We must stop... this... wenches'... sail... into... the... horizon.

Seriously, Lisa, I feel abandoned. *whine* Why is the rum always gone? I need a swig... and fast. Parting is such sweet sorrow, though a swig of rum will help me deal with this on the morrow, ye ol' Revenge has lost some zeal and me ol' heart needs time to heal. Lisa! Lisa! Ye ol' powder monkey ye! Whuaaaaaa!!!!!

Elyssa said...

I'll just echo everyone else's sentiments here: you'll be missed and hopefully you'll come back when you have everything back in gear!

Awww, Lisa. I can't imagine the pirate ship without you. I will miss your wisdom and your honesty. May your soul-searching be blessed with the direction you seek. (((Hugs)))

Good luck with your soul searching , Lisa. It has been a pleasure reading your work. And I too will miss your wisdom and your honesty.
