Labor Me Timbers!
An official U.S. national holiday since 1894, Labor Day is celebrated the first Monday in September and pays tribute to the contributions of the working class to our nation's prosperity, strength, and well-being (as per these people).
As someone who, well, works, I'm guessing I'm one of those people. As are most Americans. And if anyone wants to say stay-at-home-moms do not work or contribute, don't be saying it aboard this vessel. You may find yerself needing a peg-leg and I ain't talking about the one that ends with a shoe.
PS: I will be picnicking myself but I'll check in when I can.

Now, if there's anything with which a writer is well-acquainted, it's labor. According to Dictionary.com, labor can be defined as "exert one's powers of body or mind; work; toil." Do we toil for our stories? Do we exert the powers of our minds? You better bloody believe it.
So on this day paying tribute to all of us who labor, writer's especially, I say raise yer rum and give a loud "HUZZAH!" Now take the day off.
How are you celebrating Labor Day? Gathering with the family? Out on the water? Having a picnic? Whatever you're doing, don't forget to turn those dogs!
PS: I will be picnicking myself but I'll check in when I can.

Well said Terri. Great Speech.
One of your ancestors must have kissed the blarney stone *g*
We don't officially celebrate labour day here, but before Maggy Thatcher sorted them out, the labour unions used to take quite a lot of unscheduled breaks (strikes).
Myself, I will be...err...labouring.
HUZZAH!.....nearly said HOWZATT
Just home. The day is supposed to be sunny and in the 70s, so I'll try to sit outside and read, plus stay in and write. My husband is also laboring (at double pay, so it's all good).
Happy Labor Day all, especially happy for those of us not laboring. Though, I'm one of those stay-at-home mom's so I'm always laboring the same. But, the DH is home to help take off the pressure so it is a bit of a vacay. :)
We will be attending a BBQ this afternoon, so that's good fun. Frankly, I'll sign up for anything where I don't have to cook.
OMG, Terri... we posted the exact same picture!!!!
Happy Labor Day!!! I don't think I have to do anything, which is a blessed relief.
I'm home cleaning today, getting the kids ready for school... YAY! My daughter goes into French immersion, my son to a specialized education school, and we STILL don't have his bus pick up/drop off time! I have no idea how my babysitter is getting my son afterschool! LOL
Good morning, Everyone!
Q - We'll take some extra time to sit down and relax just for you today.
Maggs - Double time is always a good thing. Do you at least get to play with the grandbaby today?
Marn - Happy to hear you have some extra hands today. Maybe the lil pirate will take a nap and you can enjoy a little private hammock time. ;)
Ely - Did we? LOL! That's just an awesome picture. I'll have to get over there and check your blog out. And good for you to NOT be laboring.
Tiff - So DD is going full time now? I can't believe it. You have to take a picture the first day so I can see my baby going off to school. LOL!
Now, nobody fall over but I just made potato salad. Can you believe it?! I have no idea if it's good since I don't eat potato salad but it's my mother's recipe and the kiddo says it's really good. We'll have to see what all the people at the picnic say today.
no she's not full time... senior kindergarten is when they start French immersion... she's very excited. I'll be at work, DH will be dropping her off for first day, and I've given her three ways to say hello to the teacher :) mind you my French sucks! lol
I'm getting over a cold - spent all weekend in bed - reading!! No BBQ's or parties for us today. We're just hanging out and I'm movin' kind of slow. I'm one of those work at home mom's and having the DH home and doing laundry, meals and dishes all weekend has been a great help!
Happy Labor Day Everyone! Enjoy your day.
(Now I have a taste for potato salad, Ter!:))
Happy Labor Day everyone.
I'm hiding out in my house because there are too many people off work today and driving around all crazy like. No picnics for me or parties. Or at least any that I know of at the moment. The mad monkey, aka Mattycakes, might come home any minute with plans because his mind works like that.
We're here barbequeing at my mom's house. Actually, it's a working BBQ since we're putting the final touches on our 4th annual Vinny Zaccheo Memorial Family Fun Day. It's that or we send the folks biking down the wrong roads, lol.
Tiff - so still part-time. That's okay. And about that picture, HELLO! DH is photographer. I need a picture. LOL! Sil-vous plait? (I'm sure I spelled that wrong)
Sin - Hope you had a great day whether you remained in hiding or followed the mad monkey into the jungle gym. LOL!
Santa - I'm pretty sure those cyclists would appreciate an accurate map. Here's to raising lots of money!
Enjoy Laborrrr Day!
I'm a stay-at-home Mom. I've been enjoying this weekend because the house is finally getting back to normal. My company is gone. I cleaned up a bit, found some time to work on my partial and we smoked a Boston Butt. Yum! :-)
How many times do you get to say "we smoked a Boston Butt" and it's a good thing? LOL! Glad you had a good day and the house is getting back to normal, Kathy. I seem to be cleaning a lot more but it's only making things worse. How does that happen?!
Irish - how did I miss you?! Sorry to hear you're under the weather. Something is definitely going around. Hope you had a great day and kudos to the hubby for helping out.
