Happy Birthday, Captain!
The Bo’sun clued me in that tomorrow is the Captain’s birthday. She’s all quiet about it, like she expected us not to notice. But, she doesn't give us enough credit.
Huzzah, Captain! Happy 29th Birthday! Again.
So, in honor of the Captain, what would you bring to a party in honor of our Hellion? Anything you’d like, be creative. (It’s virtual, so you don’t even have to worry about how heavy it is.)
And if you could get one birthday gift, what would it be? And let’s not pull that “health for all my loved ones” stuff. I know we all want world peace and would use a real wish in some altruistic and selfless manner. But today, let's just pretend. Physical gifts only please!
We may be a bit rowdy, we may drink and eat a bit of chocolate, we might even get a bit sassy now and again. But we never miss a reason to celebrate.

Happy Birthday, Hellion! Hope you have lots of wild adventures you can't tell anybody about. :)
As for presents. . .I'm bringing you tons of time and money, because you can never have enough of those.
And I've also brought you a birthday cake that BURNS calories with each slice. So be careful with how much you have!
My birthday present? Easy. A book deal. LOL
Right now, I'd really like a Kindle. *LOL* I mean, since I already have Captain Jack Sparrow in my bed every night and all, a Kindle would be nice. And a subscription to Rum of the Month Club.
Donna, you always bring the best gifts. *LOL* Now where's that cake? *LOL*
A book deal! *sighs* That would be great!! *LOL*
Wow, I guess everybody started partying last night. LOL Hopefully they'll stumble in pretty soon (without falling into the cake).
Hells - I heart, super-triple-heart my Kindle. It's seriously an awesome gadget. Though now I've been second guessing myself because my library doesn't lend kindle books. And you can't lend books between kindles the way Nook can. But I like the screen on the kindle better so.... Hopefully kindle technology catches up. :)
Happy Birthday again, Cap'n!! :)
Donna - Money and time? Man, you know how to give the gifts. And the book deal. Can we each have one of those? LOL!!
I do like the idea of sweets that burn calories. I made chocolate chip cookies yesterday but my baking soda must be bad now because they didn't rise. They still taste awesome but they're flat as pancakes.
Plus? when they don't rise they keep that cookie dough center. Yummm....
Stop with the cookies. You're killing me!
Took me 45 minutes to go less than four miles this morning. To say this isn't my week is the understatement of the year. LOL!
Happy Birthday, Captain!!
I'm bringing you all the fabric pieces your little heart can stand. As well as a surger AND an embroidery machine. With that, I have pre-ordered all the best books coming out this year so you'll have them the moment they're released, if not sooner.
Add in the magical folder-processing gnome, and I think I have you hooked up for a while. LOL!
I'd like a bigger house. I know, I know...
Happy Birthday, Hellion!!!!!!! Hope you have lots of fun!
Ter - great gifts! Man, I could go for that pre-ordered book thing. I wait for new books like a kid waits for Santa.
"magical folder-processing gnome" hahahaha!
I think no matter how big of a house we live in, we always want just a little more. I'm not sure I'd want more space, our house is the right size for our family, I think. But I'd like to not live in a development. I grew up in the country. I'd like to have some woods around. I know, I know....
*Waves to Ely* Hi girl! Hope you're well!
Marn - I like my house, I do. Though it's still "unfinished", which makes me a little crazy. Not crazy enough to move my ass, however. LOL! But it's small and the bigger kiddo gets, the smaller it gets. She's 11 and already 5'6". (I'm 5'4".) By the time she's 17, it's going to be like sharing a doll house. :)
Marn, that is what is keeping me from a Kindle right now--the inability to get books from the library. But I am hopeful they'll bring the technology up soon. Also, I wouldn't be able to get my Harry Potter books either. She never allowed electronic rights to those books. *LOL* I mean, I know I own them, but what if I want to take them with me on a trip but don't want to pack EVERYTHING?
Bummer about the baking soda, but yum on the cookies. Did you use butter only in your cookies? That makes them flat too.
Thank you, Ely! I will. I have a massage going on tomorrow. Good times! And I have other stuff, but I won't be at work, which is really the highlight of hte day. No folders! Woot!!
Happy b-day, Cap'n! I'm bringing a transporter from Star Trek so ya can beam Deerhunter ta yer cabin whenever Jack's grown tiresome!
What would I want? An instantly clean and de-cluttered house! (I'm gonna get there the old fashioned way, but a Mary Poppins or a mass of clean freak rats and cockroaches would be good, too!)
Ah, Cap'n...jus' fer today, ya can use me never-ending rum cask! Jus' don't let Jack sneak off wit' it!

You know me so well!! The best. Gifts. EVER. Aside from Donna's publishing contract...and Marn's cookies.

Finally a reason for me to like Star Trek, THANKS, 2nd!!!!
Happy Birthday Hellie! How about, for your gift, the ability to get any pattern you want, instantly. No going to the store, no digging through books -- the one you want just appears. Wouldn't that be awesome!
Hal, that would be awesome!! Esp since a lot of patterns I want are either out of print or the store doesn't have them in stock!! That would rock!!
Oh, here's one I almost forgot to give you: a book filled with nothing but Dukes and dogs. :) Don't read it all at once!
Oh, and there is a new Hyperbole and A Half up...!
Oh, Donna, I'm so glad your evil twin got me a gift as well! You shouldn't have...you really shouldn't have. Are all the dukes spies as well? And are the heroines hiding secret babies?
And I hear the dogs can talk in this book Donna brought...
I don't know for sure, Hellie. You'll have to read it and do a book report for us!
However, this is a magical book. As soon as you finish reading one page, another page is added to the end. So it might take a while to finish it. LOL
Ah, Donnaroo! That is just pure evil! I like that so much I may steal it and add it to The Pirate Circus!
Sounds like the book was written by the guy who wrote LOST. *LOL*
I don't know about the secret babies, but I bet all the heroines are strong-minded, independent sorts who are determined to never marry and support themselves. All while enjoying sexual exploits like their male counterparts, of course.
(Do we know what bothers Hellie or what?)
I'm getting very close to either closing my office door and pretending I've gone home, or just lighting a ring of fire outside the door to keep people away. Which still won't work since all the shit flying my way is coming through emails.
I need an email firewall!!! A real one. Hey, our IT guy is here, I wonder if he could get me one?
You can't steal it, Chance. I'm using it. Of course, I could probably make more money by suing for copyright infringement. LOL
Talking dogs are good though. You can have those. :)
Okay, I've got to go run some errands. But one last treat. LOL I realized it's been a while, so. . .
*clears throat*
"Rock the boat, don't tip the boat over, rock the boat. . ."
Come on! Join in!
Thank goodness I have my iPod on.
"She's Miss America, and I'm just the girl next door..."
Ter - A dollhouse. LOL!!
Hells - I didn't use butter, I used margarine. I didn't change anything from what I usually do and they were just pancakes. So I'm guessing that's my culprit. They do still taste good. :)
And Rowling didn't allow electronic rights? Wonder why? Probably didn't want to deal with the pesky book pirates.
Chance - I want the instantly cleaned house! Sign me up!
:)
Hal - I want something that just makes whatever I need appear. Patterns, groceries, cleaning supplies. That'd be the best.
What about a Nanny? I'd think the two of you would want Nannies. LOL!
Or an Au pair, if you want to be fancy about it. (Did I spell that right? Probably not.)
I want an assistant. And 45 vacations days a year.
I keep forgetting to say, I ADORE that birthday cake. I want that!!
Happy Birthday, Hellie! I have two gifts for you. First is a time turner so that any work day you choose you can write late and sleep in. The second is a magic historical romance bookmark. Place it between the pages of any historical romance and it will tell you "THIS BOOK DOES (or DOES NOT) CONTAIN HISTORICAL INACCURACIES." It should save you lots of time. LOL
As for what I want, I'd like the right words and an agent, in that order.
*LOL* Janga, that is the most hilarious gift! Perfect for me!! I love my friends--you guys know me so well!!
Happy Birthday Helli!
I'm bringing a cake that I cooked myself'
It has one candle for each book that you have completed.
I put six candles but you must add or subtract a few to make it accurate.
Don't tell me the number though ..... mystery is essential and very alluring for a Lady.
When you try to blow out the candles, tell me how many stay alight.
I will blow a kiss for each one still burning. *smile*
Hope you have/had a great day!
There's a lot of blowing going on in that comment.
I do want an au pair. That's my best birthday present. Someone I know really well and totally trust to lend an extra set of hands when things happen during the day. Like today, when my oldest son hit himself on the face with a doorknob, turned around and accidentally stepped on the baby's hand. Two kids crying, only one lap/set of hands.
Janga - I like that bookmark. Though it makes me a little self-conscious. It's allowed nowhere near my MS.
Q - You're too cute. :)
An English cake! Huzzah! And yes, I will be VERY mysterious about how many books I have completed. *sly look*
In that case, I have a LOT of candles and you should just keep blowing kisses until your hand gets tired.
*points at Bo'sun* DON'T SAY IT!
Dang, I really liked that neverending book idea. Blast. Well, I'll find another way for Admiral Foley to be in trouble!
Hel - Did I tell you the rum cask can be tuned to dispense butterbeer?
*eyes wide* BUTTERBEER? *dives at rum cask*
*blinks innocently*
Moi?
hahaha! I liked the birthday cake too. I can't decorate with fondant, so I was impressed.
I'm currently thinking of ideas for my youngest's first birthday party. It's still a few months away, but with how long it takes me to do anything, I thought I should start pondering. I was thinking Toy Story. We'll see.
You mean it's not going to be Thomas the Tank Engine??
Sweet lord. No. Thank goodness. My eldest shrugged off his Thomas obsession a few weeks ago. Just stopped liking him, stopped watching him. After "Santa" spent all that money on trains and tracks and whatnot.
Sigh.
At least I have another coming up. He better like Thomas too.
Maybe you can rewrap the gifts during the youngest's ones obsession. He won't know the difference. *LOL*
What is the oldest into now? *LOL*
My MIL bought him MarioKart for the Wii for Christmas. He hearts it hard.
So, now, it's that, plus racing cars (hot wheels, monster trucks, stuff like that), a sprinkling of Iron Man, Spiderman, and Superman.
*shakes head* I am a real girl. I'm not cut out to make whooshing noises, I don't make the car revving noise well, and I can't race the cars for hours on end without my eyes crossing. It's really sad.
There is a new show on Disney that's called Jake and the Neverland Pirates. He loves it. It's cute.
I've seen the band that does the music for that show! Captain Boggs and Salty. They were hilarious at the Portland Pirate Festival. Especially the Pegleg Tango... ;-)
That's a real band? How funny. :) They're pretty good, actually. My kid digs the show, that's for sure.
Marn - if he likes the music...you can get CDs. Google them. Captain Boggs and Salty. You'll see!
Sounds like Kiddo used to be with The Wiggles. I loved Captain Feathersword!
*sings* "Mashed potatoes, mashed potatoes..."
Happy Birthday, HELLIE!!!!
My gift to you is a lifetime membership to the massage establishment of your choice. Massage services as often as you want forever!!!! And I think I'd take one for me too.
Otherwise, I'd take the housekeeper, cook and maybe a house makeover.
Enjoy your day tomorrow!
I got the Nook Color, Hellie! I really like it. I'm in the process of trying to figure out how to borrow a book from my library. The problem is that my library's e-pub books are limited. I finally picked a Mary Balogh I've read and it told me I had to put it on hold. UGH! So soon I'll figure out how it works.
This working sucks - I missed the celebration today and Donna's blog yesterday looked really fun! Got me thinking, Donna. Thanks!
Happy Birthday my dear Captain Hellion!
