A week of Mondays…or Fridays…or
Anyone know what day it is? Really? I mean, I’ve been out of
whack all bloody week. Holidays in the middle of the week should be illegal.
Why couldn’t we celebrate the Fourth on the First? Or the Sixth?
Instead we ended up with a day off midweek, throwing the
working and non-working into a tizzy of confusion.
Wandering Facebook on Thursday, I saw reference to Monday
again and again.
And when did people take vacations? Before the Fourth?
After? During?
What will next week be like? A FIVE DAY WORK WEEK!
For those who work.
It was hard for me because of when the husband was home. Not
used to that…
I’m heading north today, for a big b-day bash tomorrow to
celebrate my Mom’s 80th.
Let’s have a Friday
goof off day…if today were a holiday, say the Friday Fourth, what would you be
doing if you could DO ANYTHING YOU WANT! ANYWHERE YOU WANT! No limits. A pirate
celebrates being independent! GO!
Me? I’m on this beach…in this hammock…the wonderfully buff
and melodiously voiced Stephen Lang reading something sweet and sexy to me.

SOmeone just posted pictures from a wedding they attended on Weds. It was in the US Virgin Islands. Um, beyond gorgeous. I would love to take a vacation there.
It's beyond hot here right now so anywhere that isn't sweaty would be lovely. A nice beach breeze would be great. :)
And I could stand a pina colada. And a nanny.
Look at that gorgeous clear water. I live at the beach but it doesn't look like that. And Marn, that beach breeze isn't doing anything in this heat. It's like an oven out there.
I want warm breezes with no humidity. Where can I get that? Wait, if Chance is out of town, then her house is available. Maybe I'll just head there. House sit for a while...
Maureen, if I could be anywhere, I'd choose center court (or centre court) at Wimbledon and stay all weekend. It's not as hot there, and I could watch amazing tennis, the only pro sport I follow.
Glad I'm not the only one, Nancy. Though that semi-final between Federer and Djokovic is going to be better than the final, I think. Think Murray will make it through?
Marn - I'm amazed at the heat I see the rest of the country dealing with right now... I'm just hoping it will hold off hitting the central valley of California just a few more days. Mom wouldn't do well in 100 degree heat and the party is outside at a park!
Which is why I'm looking at that hammock with glazed eyeballs...
So, one order of cool breeze, bottomless pina coladas and a nanny for Marn!
Terri - It's hard to imagine an ocean and no cool breeze anywhere in sight. Especially the Atlantic, which isn't a warm ocean in the first place!
I bet if you actually waded into the water you'd cool off... ;-)
Yes, the house is empty for the weekend, but you'll have to clean it to feel comfortable. So bring the rubber gloves and a dump truck or five. On the flip side, it's on the cool side. Temp right now is 55 degrees...
Nancy! Tennis, anyone? Well, I'm not much of a sports fan, though I am hoping to see some of the Americas Cup live when it hits San Francisco later this year and I do attend a yearly NASCAR race... Which when you look at the two sports says something about how odd I am...
If Wimbleton is what ya crave, than I say take a pirate's holiday and seize it!
I'm sure getting in the water would help, and it might be nicer down on the boardwalk, but I'm only 3 miles off the water and it's tough to breath standing in my front yard. The breeze is hot, like a hair dryer blowing in your face.
I'm sure I could clear out a corner of your porch and settle in.
This weather is flat out amazing, when it isn't terrifying... Hard to believe it's so bad everywhere and I don't know...Ocean breeze and hot just aren't two words that should be in the same breath...
Well, there is an outlet on the front deck...bring a sweater.
Chance - is there another hammock down the beach where I won't bother you because that is the perfect spot!
I would go back to Cape May, New Jersey, to relax on the beach. I spent a week there last week and I need a vacation from my vacation. My three grandsons came along. Whew.... Now, what day is it?
Sabrina! I suppose, maybe, I could let you stake up a hammock, but make sure it's far enough that Stephen's voice remains mine, all mine!
Kathleen - I think it's Friday, but I'm not totally sure. The way the week is going, who knows what day tomorrow will be!
By my massive pirate bartending powers, I grant you a week in Cape May, sans, grandkids!
Well if we're having men read to us, I'm bringing Matthew MacFadyen. He can read the phone book for all I care, so long as he keeps talking.
Works for me, Ter! I haven't decided what book I want Stephen to read. Needs to be steamy...I wonder if Emma Holly has a new contemporary out?
Instead of Friday the Fourth it could be National Read to a Pirate Day!
Okay, crew. I need to take to the highway and head north. I'll be checkin' in when I can, love to hear more about what you'd rather be doing today...
Hi Maureen,
I got here too late to post before you headed north, but I couldn't resist stopping in to wave and say, AMEN AMEN! I hate holidays in the middle of the week. They are, however, better than no holiday at all I suppose.
If today were the Fourth and I could go anywhere, I'd take next week off and go to the Oregon and California wine country, see the redwoods, and taste wine. And hopefully it would be cooler there. *fans self* Lordy it's hot.
Hey, Cassondra! You sweating over there too? I'll be happy when this dang heat wave breaks. Though being it's so early in the season, I'm worried we could be stuck with this for another two months.
I'm not a wine drinker, but I'd come along for the scenery and those cooler temps.
I think I'd go to the Pacific NW. Not as hot! *LOL* The beach picture looks too warm!
But right now I'm home on vacation, napping, lying around in my cool apartment, enjoying the time off. I'm getting a massage in about an hour, so life is good.
But I agree: holidays in the middle of the week are criminal. *LOL*
California wine country is also spa country!
Hels, your day sounds pretty good!
