Update: I have Shui'd the Feng

I realize that title makes no sense, but it sounds fun. Or painful. One or the other. And saying I Feng'd the Shui sounds absolutely wrong.

But I digress.

Thankfully, other than stirring up dust that tweaked my sinuses, it was virtually painless. My room is mostly decluttered (have more work to do today), my bed is facing south, and my desk is facing my bedroom door. No one will be sneaking up on me now. The added bonus is that now I'm right next to the storyboard which was previously behind me and to the left. I need to see my storyboard from the computer in order to work on revisions.

So now the big question is, have I worked on revisions? *shuffles to change the subject* Did anyone watch football this weekend? How 'bout those Giants!

Seriously, this is all part of the process. The process of getting the process going again. In order to proceed. (Am I talking in circles?)

What I want to know today is what is everyone reading? We've talked about Goals and resolutions that come with the new year, but there are also books! Our own 2nd Chance will have the third in her Kraken's Caribbean Series, The Pirate Circus, out in the next month or so. I know Assassin is also working on getting another book on the virtual shelves. Something different but you all are going to love it!

Who else? I see so many book release celebrations on Twitter I'm starting to wonder if they don't come out hourly now. Tell us what you're dying to get your hands on. It's book pushing day on The Revenge.

And Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!!!

*LOL* I'm glad you've restructured your room and your Chi is now flowing freely and in the right direction! Although I can't set up my room where my bedroom faces South, I do have it where there are no toilets messing with my chi AND I have the foot of my bed towards the door, which is supposed to be a good thing. Where no one can walk up on you and all that. And my furniture is rather balanced in the room around the bed, so that works.

I didn't do a deep declutter this week, but I did do some cleaning. Took out the trash, shelved some items and put stuff away, tried to clean up the kitchen table (which didn't fully work, but it's better than it was). I also have 3 bottles of oyster sauce, so I think I need to stop forgetting that I don't need to buy any when I'm at the asian store.

My writing was minimal. My quilting was even more minimal--but I did cull some books from my bookshelf and set up the sewing to work on the blocks. That's half the battle. I just finished reading Jennifer Hudson's "I GOT THIS" this weekend (it was good--an inspiring read)--and she was talking about exercise. How she'd make a list of things to do to go walking. 1.) GET UP. 2.) PUT ON YOUR SHOES. 3.) GRAB YOUR KEYS. 4.) GET YOUR IPOD. 5.) WALK OUT THE DOOR. Seriously, she had that written down. I totally understand the need for that list. I was nodding the whole time I read that section!

As for other stuff I'm reading:

Teresa Medeiros' THE PLEASURE OF HIS KISS: Great, great read. I think TM has her stride back. I haven't adored her last few books as much as her earlier books, but this one really shines.

Eloisa James' THE DUKE IS MINE: I adored this hero; and I adored the heroine even more. Every chapter I kept wailing: HOW IS THIS GOING TO WORK OUT? Such black moments! EJ really hit this fairy tale out of the park.

Anne Gracie' BRIDE BY MISTAKE: the fifth in the series of her Devil Riders. Luke--who we've all longed for--is finally getting his book. I'm halfway through and once again, Anne has me laughing hysterically one minute and crying the next. You can't go wrong with her.

I also have on my list to read next: Julie Anne Long's Marquess book.

I recently finished a Louise Allen book: Vicar's Daughter to Viscount's Lady. I want to read the others in her trio of sisters books. It's a Harlequin historical, but really good, I thought. Well done. I also read an inspirational book called Unlawfully Wedded Bride which was sweet and heartfelt--it got preachy a little, but I was able to move on. *LOL* I mean, it came with the territory.

I also have recently read a quartet of cozy yoga mysteries that I adored by Diana Killian. I highly recommend if you like cozy mysteries. Or yoga. Or dogs.

Well, I'm currently reading "The 7 Secrets of the Prolific - The Definitive Guide to Overcoming Procrastination, Perfectionism and Writer's Block" by Hillary Rettig (along with taking the class from Savvy Authors at the same time.)

Wonderful class...it's shaking a lot of things lose from me. Now, what else am I interested in reading? The new Simon R. Green book is out and I need to get it. And after spending the weekend aboard the Queen Mary at a steampunk convention, I really need to read some of the authors I've heard so much about and haven't read. Like Cherie Priest...

And. BTW, if your work desk cannot be shifted and your back is to a door? You can 'cure' that with a strategically placed mirror so you can see what is going on behind you. And yes, tabletop fountains are good.

There is more to Feng Shui than de-cluttering I think.

Experts say there may be harmful energies emitted from the earth. Apparently these are polarised so that orienting your bed or desk relative to the axis of polarisation is important.

If you have trouble sleeping or concentrating, then you might benefit from a Feng Shui expert checking out your house .... if you believe this stuff.

I'm currently reading 'Only Love' by Elizabeth Lowell. It's about a Yondering man finally finding the sunset that he yearns for. The sex on route is out of this world! LOL

I'm really motivated to reorganize the stuff that surrounds me on a daily basis, so I plan to work on that today and tomorrow.

I'm also finishing up the details for getting Lord Midnight ready for Createspace, so it will be available as print-on-demand in addition to the ebook that's already out there (it's currently #43 on Amazon's Hot New Releases in Regencies -- yay!)

I'm reading several things right now, thanks to my Nook. And my TBR/wish list keeps getting longer! We gotta see about getting about 14 more hours added to each day -- BUT they only be used for fun stuff. LOL

Chance - We better get all the Symposium details this Friday. With lots of pictures. I know you have them on Facebook but I haven't even gotten over there to check them out. Must take a shower so I can feel human again, then I'll be back!

Sorry, guys. I'm off today and slept way later than I'd planned. Woke with a headache so now I'm not so sure the bed placement made a difference. Now I have to find my polarization? Egads!

Q - That Lowell book is a classic! There are three others in the series. Have you read those too? I adore those books.

I've yet to read Medeiros but I hear nothing but praise for this latest. I might try it, but right now I'm reading Golden Heart entries for judging. It's very hard knowing you can't give any feedback on these things.

Congrats on another book on the virtual shelves, Donna! That ranking is wonderful! And learning even more formatting for POD stuff. Man, all this formatting stuff makes me want to run and hide.

Hellie - I'd say read slower but I'd be wasting my breath. I took 2 bags to the UBS not long ago and felt great for it. The small shelf in my room is overflowing but instead of getting rid of all of them, I'm just going to buy another shelf. LOL!

I did a little decluttering and a little cleaning. I was promised today would be the big cleaning day - we'll see about that. My son has already left for baseball practice, my daughter is dressed and ready to go (which never happens before noon on her days off so she's got something up her sleeve), and the DH started teaching an on-line class today, so I'm assuming he's going to need to be working out all the bugs with that! All those "we'll do it Monday" promises aren't looking too promising. LOL

On a positive note, I've been walking on the treadmill every day for 30 minutes and feeling pretty good about that. I've discovered "The Big Bang Theory" and decided to catch up while I walk. Great exercise and starts my day off on a positive, hilarious note.

I'm in the middle of "A Place Called Home" by Jo Goodman. Awesome read. It is a contemporary and I'm really enjoying it. I bought "This Duke Is Mine" and "Bride by Mistake" but really felt like a contemp this week and this is really hitting the spot. I also put Kaki Warner's newest, Colorado Dawn on hold at the library and can't wait to dive into that one. Lots of good reads coming out. My big CAN'T wait book is "Rainshadow Road" by Lisa Kleypas.

You're right, Irish. That "We'll do it Monday" thing isn't looking good for you. I've wasted more hours of this day than I intended so I need to get my butt in gear. Kiddo's laundry isn't going to do itself. *sigh*

I've been walking with the new puppy (who is currently passed out on my lap) and it's making a difference. That or staying too busy to eat. The numbers are dropping on the scale. I guess being on constant piddle duty has its perks. LOL!

I've yet to read Lisa Kleypas' last Contemp but I have it now (thanks to Janga) so I'll get to it before Rainshadow Road comes out. Those I know who have read it are raving about it. I'm intrigued by the magical tough she threw in there.

I've never read a Jo Goodman, I don't think. But I've known about her forever. I don't think I knew she wrote Contemporaries. I'll have to look for that one!

Well, playing with my video cam this morning...trying to get my video done to the producer... It seems okay...not sure if the resolution is good, etc... Sigh. I need someone with experience...right here, next to me...still aboard the Queen Mary...

;-)

I will share buckets of photos on Friday...meanwhile, I have loads on FB for those who can't wait...

I'm hoping to read some on the way home...if I don't just pass out from exhaustion...

Great job Feng'ing your Shui. Or whatever.

We lost our heat yesterday, thanks to a mess up with the installation of the system last summer. Apparently condensation froze in the line and thanks to a wondrous safety feature that spared water on our floor, we were freezing arse cold last night. Lovely.

Anywho.... Right now I'm reading HIS AT NIGHT by Sherry Thomas. It's the last of her books I need to finish reading. She's got a trilogy coming out this year too and I'm dying to get my hands on it. I'm also half way through HEIR by Grace Burrowes which I'm ok with but I just can't seem to get into it completely yet.

I think my TBR list looks lots like Hellies. I'll also add Jessica Andersen's next Nightkeeper book and JR Ward's next, LOVER REBORN. Though Ward keeps letting me down, I'll probably still buy it. 'Cause I'm a sucker like that.

I also hope that Joanna Bourne puts a new book out this year. I glommed up her backlist over the holiday and now I'm waiting on her too. LOL!

I also read ANGELFALL by Susan Ee this past week and I need to recommend this book. If you liked Hunger Games, this is a good choice. It's YA, by a self-pubbed, I think. Fantastic. I can't wait til the next book. Very cool.

I'm happy to know that you have shui'd the feng, Ter. My bed and desk are already in the right position, but I definitely need to declutter. However, it will have to wait until after I meet my deadline, which I've already had extended because I fell Saturday and am too sore to sit at the computer for long periods. My name should be Grace--Not.

As for reading, I've read EJ's The Duke Is Mine, JAL's How the Marquess Was Won, TM's The Pleasure of His Kiss, Anne Gracie's Bride by Mistake, Jo Goodman's A Place Called Home (her first contemp, Terri), Christina Brooke's Mad About the Earl, Kaki Warner's Colorado Dawn, JoAnn Ross's On Lavender Lane, Cecilia Grant's A Lady Awakenened, and Lisa Kleypas's Rainshadow Road. Also, Sarah MacLean's A Rogue by Any Other Name. I loved them all, but I loved some more than others. And I liked several others. :) This year is starting off as a super reading year, but I have so many reviews to write that I dream about writing reviews. And my TBR stack is a mountain range by now.

The book I'm most looking forward to now is How to Dance with a Duke by our friend Manda Collins on January 31, but I'm also eager to read The House on Butterfly Way by Elizabeth Bevarly, A Scandalous Countess by Jo Beverley, and A Texas Chance (HSR) by Jean Brashear (on top of my #1 TBR mountain right now)--all February 7 releases.

I stayed up till 3 am reading Anne Gracie's book. Which totally put a crimp on my 7 am get up time, though I did it. And then ran around errands. When I left the farm at 7:30, I said I was tired, and Dad said, "Why are you tired? I'm the one who did all the walking."

Fortunately Janga's post reassured me I have more to read. Whoohooo!
