Scenic Routes
Influences this week: Snow, snow, snow, snow! (It's snowing while I write this.), hot liquid caffeine usually in the form of cappuccino, and Kevin Matisyn's Eclipsed.
I spent last month writing. I started out writing what I thought was to be the first of Kiki's three book series. The first scene was really vivid in my mind. She wakes up to three goons hovering over her bed just before dawn. Kiki is used to trouble. Tory, her best friend, has a saying about Kiki. “Trouble follows you.” Incidentally, my BFF says this about me. Even bought me a shirt with it blazoned across the front of it.
The goons are just delivering a message. Kiki is not who the boss wants. Someone important to Kiki's past is who the boss wants. Her husband. The last time Kiki saw her husband- after he shot her father. Not exactly on speaking terms, you see.
But how did I get to that point?
I'm not quite sure.
I wrote quite a bit more. All the way to another of my favorite very vivid mental scenes. The confrontation.
“What's in it for me?”
“A divorce.”
Excellent motivation if you ask me. I'd dance with the devil for a chance like that. Kiki says about that much as well. Unlikely partners with unlikely motivation. My favorite type of writing.
The next thing I saw was how her sisters were kidnapped. That was a dream. The kind of dream you wake up in a cold sweat and not quite sure what the hell happened. This is also the kind of dream you can kick the ass of your chosen bedmate and not realize it until they are screaming at you for kicking them in the ribs because it really really hurts.
So then I wrote the scene of how Kiki finds out the twins are missing. And I go from there and realize there is an entire book before the one I started out in. In one week Kiki realizes her life is one big lie surrounded by millions of tiny white ones. It was so incredible to watch play out in my mind. And like Terri said yesterday, nothing is as great as what you see the first time in your mind as you're writing it. My job is to do a good enough job to make you visualize what I saw, continue to see as I'm writing. All these questions started coming up in my mind, the plot bunnies fornicated and multiplied at alarming rates until I thought I might lose control.
So while I didn't hit THE END on my novel by the end of November, like planned, it doesn't mean the whole month was a waste. In this case, the scenic route helped me, as the writer, better understand my character and the path she's on. I like to think this is helping me create a better novel for you to read and make me a better crafter.
Does anyone else have a problem with plot bunnies? Those suckers will dry hump just about anything. Especially blank pages. What happened to you in the month of November? Did you write, read, shop, gab, jab, climb a tree, marry a lumberjack, kiss a sailor? Let's make up great stories about our month to relieve some of the stress of the upcoming holidays. Or just tangent. I like tangents.
Congrats to our very own DRD for becoming a winner of the 2010 National Novel Writing Month, or NaNo. It took a lot of grit, determination, and steady hours of fingers to the keyboard, but you did it! I'm so proud of you DRD!!

I started November waiting for my first round of revisions. Got them 10 days in, while in the midst of a case of shingles. I slaved over them for 4 days, correcting my corrections after they were pointed out to me. Sent them off.
Now I'm on second round of revisions. Half way through! The shingles are basically gone, just a bit drag ass.
I went to a Steampunk Convention that would have been way better if I'd been healthier... It's been one hell of a month and I can hope December is better!
I'm glad the shingles are better. But the month of December will be much better without them. Think of all the energy you'll get back now that you're getting healthy again. You'll be pumping out the revisions so fast people's heads will spin.
I love how Sin squees for DRD but not for herself.
A giant public squee for both Donna AND Sin! Way to let those words flow, girls! Two Nano winners on the boat. What an accomplishment, even if neither of you wrote "THE END."
What'd I do in Nov? I planned my son's birthday party (Thomas the Tank Engine) and I tried to work through my backstory with the help of my fabulous mentor, Caroline Linden. My youngest got his first tooth, so that's been a good time.
My life is exciting, huh?
I won't gloat too much here but I'm done Christmas shopping for my kids!! Hoooraay!!! I still have some small stuff to do and presents to get for some other family members, but the boys are done. And when you're trying to track down random Thomas toy that's been discontinued but the little prince just HAS to have, well, that's good news.
I did find the damn train online for a very good price. If I hadn't, I would have been explaining to the offspring that Santa's a cool guy but he doesn't walk on water.
Today it's raining, so I'm going to bake cookies. Yum. I haven't decided what kind yet. But something sweet. It's that kind of snuggle in a sweatshirt, drink hot drinks, and have something bad for me day.
Marn - My *baby* just lost a tooth. Surprisingly, that's much simpler than when they're coming in. Though it leaves a large, gaping hole in her mouth.
HUGE CONGRATS!!! to Sin and Donna. I tried NaNo once and couldn't even hit 17K words. LOL! 50K is amazing!
What did I do in November? I don't want to think about it. But this week is when it all pays off and for the rest of December, I should be cruising. Sent off my GH entry yesterday, and the company party is this weekend. Between now and Saturday night, I have to order two breakfasts, two lunches, settle last minute party details, alter my dress, iron my wrap, take a cat to the vet, and take me to the eye doc.
Did I mentioned I'm relaxing for the rest of December? Oh, and I'm pretty sure I'm done shopping for kiddo. Maybe. We'll see.
I can't believe I failed to mention how AWESOME this books sounds. I love that their motivation is a divorce from each other. In a romance. LOL! That's so awesome!
You are the queen of intense characters. And I've never gotten a scene in a dream. Heck, even the scenes in my head aren't terribly vivid. Well, some are. But few and far between.
I did some pre-writing; and I did a Marn. Basically extracted my characters and said, "I need to write the story this way instead" and scrapped what I had. But I'm good with it. I feel a lot better about what I'm doing now. I have far more pre-writing and scene ideas and stuff vivid in my head with this idea than I did with the previous idea.
And I totally kissed a sailor (ex-sailor--who was never on a boat, seriously how are you in the Navy and you're never on a boat? WTH) and other stuff. The month wasn't a loss by any means.
You know, I'm surrounded by sailors and I didn't kiss a one. My life sucks. LOL!
I did a Marn. Basically extracted my characters and said, “I need to write the story this way instead” and scrapped what I had.
Hmmm.... this actually makes it sound like I know what the hell I'm doing.
I'm glad you're feeling good about your direction, Hells.
Yay to Ter for getting out her GH entry! That's so awesome too. Lots of good stuff happening on the boat. Good luck getting all your stuff together for the party!
And I agree with Bo'sun; this book sounds awesome.
Sin, you crack me up -- just like Marn said, you squee for me and not yourself. YOU finished like a week early or something, which is totally kick-ass.
The pirates have been wicked busy AND productive this month. Chance, I'm glad you're feeling better. That is usually something that knocks people to their knees, but you just kept going on as usual!
I'm envious of Hellion kissing a sailor (even if he was never on a boat). :)
I didn't really get to celebrate my birthday month as I'd planned--so I'm going to try to take over December. Although I'm trying to find a job, so that will take precedence--if I don't get an ulcer first. Gah.
Someone pour some rum into my coffee. LOL
*slides Donna the extra rum glitter*
Both Chance and I have birthdays this month. Don't even try encroaching on our territory. LOL!
*knocks back the rum*
Sorry, Chance -- I didn't mean to encroach on you too. Well, I did, but I prefer to do it knowingly. :)
You know, I’m surrounded by sailors and I didn’t kiss a one. My life sucks.
Dude, I came to your house for a week and kissed sailors in your town. You're doing something wrong. (Or right--I mean, one should probably avoid sailors, they tend to kiss and sail off into the sunset.)
Hmmm…. this actually makes it sound like I know what the hell I’m doing.
It's like that line in Harry Potter where Ron says, "You made it sound cooler than it actually was." And Harry says, "I've been telling you that for years."
I’m envious of Hellion kissing a sailor
He wasn't in uniform if it makes a difference. *LOL*
Don’t even try encroaching on our territory.
You'll have to excuse Bo'sun. She's a little testy that she has to share her birthday with the big glittery ball and a billion kissing couples.
Crapola I've fallen behind in blog duties.
Marn, it's a big deal to plan a birthday party. Plus, you've got TWO little kiddos and plenty of stuff going on. I'd say that's an accomplishment within itself.
Yay for being done with Christmas shopping! I'm about 75% done. The rest will be Internet shopping only and stocking stuff as I see it.
Mmm, cookies. I think I'm going to make shortbread cookies with dark chocolate bottoms for Christmas. But I have a new recipe for mint chocolate sandwich cookies I want to try as well. Damn Better Homes and Garden magazine.
Ter! YAY for sending off the GH entry! You deserve to relax this month.
I really don't feel like my characters are any more intense than the next writer. Nor do I ever feel like I'm putting an unique spin on what I'm writing to make me stand out. I mostly just feel like my writing is blah. Meh. Hnn. And all those other sound effect words that mean indifferent.
And Ter, about the dreaming. It's not a good thing to dream about writing. Sleeping is for resting. Not wigging out, fighting, emotional distress. It's visually intense but leaves you feeling too drained to operate.
I was totally kidding about the kissing of a sailor. I didn't actually think anyone would've done it. LOL
I should've known. *shakes head*
Hells, the month is never a loss when you're involved.
DRD you should totally celebrate your birthday this month. What better what to celebrate your birthday than to share it with other pirates? I mean, December is a month made for partying. It's after NaNo. There are a host of Christmas and Holiday parties. There's new years eve. Party central. What's adding another birthday celebration to the mix? That just makes the month more awesome.
Ter, you should totally take advantage of your sailor to civilian ratio and kiss some sailors. The country needs your lips.
Sin is game to share the month of December because it's her birthday month too. Either this Friday or Sunday actually--I forget. (She keeps changing it up.)
What is up with all these parents having sex in March anyway?
Dear DRD,
I saved the special rum for you. Go to the bar. Slip behind the two barrels pushed together. Find the hollowed out plank and knock twice. The Undead Monkey will pop out and pour you some. It will knock your birthday socks off.
Sincerely,
Evil Twin
March is when the sun reappears and people start humping like rabbits.
Still not right Hells.
It’s like that line in Harry Potter where Ron says, “You made it sound cooler than it actually was.” And Harry says, “I’ve been telling you that for years.”
In this scenario, is it a cool thing to cut so much of my MS and debate starting from scratch? If so, I'm way cooler than I thought!!
I think I’m going to make shortbread cookies with dark chocolate bottoms for Christmas. But I have a new recipe for mint chocolate sandwich cookies I want to try as well. Damn Better Homes and Garden magazine.
Yum, shortbread cookies. :) And mint chocolate sandwich cookies? Um, yeah, that's right up my alley. Did you guys see the Avon writers are doing a recipe circle? I started at Miranda Neville's recipe for mincemeat pies and followed around, making myself incredibly hungry in the process.
I love the holidays.
March is when the sun reappears and people start humping like rabbits.
You'd think people would take the nasty weather as an opportunity to stay inside for extracurricular activities.
And there's always St. Patty's Day.
How could I forget Sin's B-Day too?! Sorry, Sinister.
Today it’s raining, so I’m going to bake cookies. Yum. I haven’t decided what kind yet. But something sweet. It’s that kind of snuggle in a sweatshirt, drink hot drinks, and have something bad for me day.
Waaaaaa-I-wanna-live-at-Marnee's house. Don't you want a pet, Marn? I don't shed, an house broken, and I rarely bite.
How could I forget Sin’s B-Day too?! Sorry, Sinister.
It's okay. I make a game out of how I can make people forget about it.
Jules.
All I have to say is...
LMFAO. Hahahaha. You don't expect her to believe that... do you?
Jules, hon, you can come live here. But I don't need a pet, I need an au pair. How you feel about that job? All the cookies you can eat, I promise. And my little loves, they're quite cute when they're not being little beasts.
Rethinking your offer?
I can mail cookies instead, how's that? LOL!!
You'd think but it takes those people three months to work off the extra fat they gain through the holidays to find the equipment to do extracurricular activities.
You’d think but it takes those people three months to work off the extra fat they gain through the holidays to find the equipment to do extracurricular activities.
I'm afraid I resemble this remark. At least the three months to work off the extra fat part of it....
And I was more thinking of me than anything else.
You just had a baby. That doesn't count.
In this scenario, is it a cool thing to cut so much of my MS and debate starting from scratch?
Oh, yes. It takes balls to admit everything you write isn't pure gold. *LOL*
Marn, I really just want to make the peppermint sandwich cream for the inside of the cookies. It looks SO yum. I think if you pull up the BH&G website you should be able to find the recipe and if not, I'll get it for you.
I have to find an alternative for eggs to make good cookies. Applesauce doesn't cut it.
I have to find an alternative for eggs to make good cookies. Applesauce doesn’t cut it.
Don't tell me you're also allergic to eggs?
Sister is. I've attempted to find an egg substitute but it all has egg products in them.
In this scenario, is it a cool thing to cut so much of my MS and debate starting from scratch?
Oh, yes. It takes balls to admit everything you write isn’t pure gold. *LOL*
Ugh, who made the first comment, Hells? I hate when I get behind in comments and then I start missing shit.
Oh, yes. It takes balls to admit everything you write isn’t pure gold. *LOL* Then I definitely have balls. :)
http://www.bhg.com/recipe/bars/peppermint-cream-bites/
Um, is this it? Because this looks so good I might consider going to the store to get the ingredients right now...
Actually traditional shortbread cookies don't call for an egg.
http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/scottish-shortbread-iv/Detail.aspx
I mean, it's richer with an egg, but it's not necessary. Then you dip it in the chocolate...and you're done.
Drop cookies--well, you're screwed. But you can feed her traditional shortbread and be fine.
I do disclaimer on the ener-g egg replacer. I haven't ever used. Just heard of it.
Sin - http://www.ener-g.com/egg-replacer.html
Apparently this works pretty well. No idea if you can buy this somewhere like whole foods or something....
Speaking of cookies, and I just made SIN spit out her poptart.
I feel so accomplished. So fulfilled. Sooooo ... So what time do you eat lunch, SIN? Wouldn't want to miss out on an opportunity to accomplish something.
Marn- nope that's not the recipe but that looks pretty baller.
And I've heard of the ener-g egg replacer. Can't find it here.
Clover's has it, Sin. I just did a search on the website and it says Clover's has it.
I'll be out of the office for lunch, you brat. I don't want to ruin my gorgeous flat screens on my desk.
Hells, I wanted the egg replacer for general foods. She loves french toast but the primary ingredient in that is egg.
Since I don't have anything to add to recipe talk, I'll just take this large Mighty Mast and head for my hammock. I might take a drink with me too...
Yay for Clovers. I'll have to head to Eastgate to get it.
Ter, ooooooh no you don't.
*follows Terri in case there are any leftovers*
So where is everyone at with their writing? New stories? New genres?
*piggybacking DRD*
Paybacks are a bitch.
I really need to get a couple more stories off to WW, but my brain won't clear up enough for creative productivity until next week. However, my reward for all the crap I have to do the rest of the week is going to see Tangled on Sunday. Highly looking forward to that.
*slides Sin a cupcake with an interesting candle*
Here, darling, blow one for your birthday. ;)
That would be QUIET. Though she can be QUITE as well.
TODAY is Sin's birthday. No wonder she's quite. Wench.
*blows a little pitch pipe in the key of C*
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Yes, this is embarrassing,
But that’s what Crews do!
*big kazoo solo*
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
You look like a slutty pirate,
And curse like one too!
Jules - At least it wasn't a pop tart.
She's quite something...
Beautiful rendition of an old classic, Hellie. Now I say we make her wear the big silly hat.
Here, darling, blow one for your birthday.
*cough-cough*
Candle! She means CANDLE! Terri, don't say stuff like that when I'm drinking coffee!
Happy Birthday you crazy wench! (Note to self: it is impossible to keep secrets on this ship. LOL)
And I will allow the piggybacking since it's your birthday. (Why do I feel the need to drag out the ole "Must be this tall" line right about now? :) )
I think that you were right the first time, Hellion. Quite indeed!
I mostly just feel like my writing is blah.
Uhhuh … righhhhhht SIN … your writing is blah.
And I’m normal.
Awh, the sneaky little pirate wench.
Happy Birthday dear! :)
*Throws confetti all over everything.* Someone get a hottie over here to clean that up.
Hells, LOL! Great song. You play a mean kazoo!
Well if the writing thing doesn't work out, I'm hoping to be hired on as a kazoo player for parties.
I’m hoping to be hired on as a kazoo player for parties.
No wonder you're popular with the sailors. LOL
Touche, Donna. *LOL*
Loved the song, Hellie.
So when are you going to record them?
LOL Donna!
*slides Sin a cupcake with an interesting candle*
Here, darling, blow one for your birthday. ;)
It's glorious.
*giggling* Isn't it Hells?
Poptart get stuck in your keyboard?
And what are you doing eating a poptart anyway? I figured that on a day like today, you’d be doing a Marie Antoinette. You know…. Let them eat cake
Ugh, you tattled on me. Didn't you?
I am quite.
Quite a lot of things.
You look like a slutty pirate,
And curse like one too!
I went for the librarian look today. Does that count?
Now we need a drink that comes with a kazoo.
Everything is better with a Kazoo.
And I will allow the piggybacking since it’s your birthday. (Why do I feel the need to drag out the ole “Must be this tall” line right about now?)
Dear DRD,
You do not ALLOW the Evil Twin to do things. The Evil Twin just does them.
Sincerely,
Evil Twin
PS. Need I remind you I pass the requirements the of the DRD to ride your ride?
*Throws confetti all over everything.* Someone get a hottie over here to clean that up.
And while the hotties are at it, I smeared some frosting on me accidentally. I need help cleaning it up.
Dear Evil Twin,
Hah! Aren't you just the cutest? Since it is your birthday, I will ALLOW you to hold on to that belief.
Sincerely,
DRD
P.S. Your P.S. is apparently written in code, and I left my secret decoder spy ring (and my kazoo) at one of the Hotties' homes. Please translate immediately.
Thanks pirates for the birthday wishes. I'm doing pretty good at avoiding it today. Both the office and Mattycakes have forgotten.
I think she said she's qualified to ride you, but I'm trying not to think about that else I have to scrub the image from my brain.
I wanna Kazoo.
And a cookie.
Ugh, you tattled on me. Didn’t you?
I beg your Pardon?
*innocent look*
I never tell. I never break rank. I never ... well I never! Did you see what that guy from Georgia just did?
Nope.
Cuz I never!
Here, Terri -- some eye bleach and a Brillo pad. I'll play the kazoo in the background while you do the hazmat routine.
And speaking of never, are you sure that you want me to answer your ...
What happened to you in the month of November? question? Because I Gotta tell Ya this month was a doozy. Even by my standards, this was one hellofa month.
Thanks, Donna. Have a Kamikazi to go with that kazoo.
Happy Birthday, Sin!
Congrats to the winners of NANO!
Chance glad you're feeling better and zooming through your revisions!
Bo'sun good luck in the GH!
November was a bit of a blur for me, it started with my local chapter's writing retreat-I didn't get much writing done. But I had a friend read my WIP, and she loved it. Yay! at first we were only going to read the first 10 pages of each other's, but she kept reading, and reading, nearly 30 pages. What an awesome mental boost.
Most of my christmas shopping is done, all I have is the wrapping.
My SIL is having hip replacement surgery on friday so I'll be helping her with wrapping as well.
Di
Appreciate it, Terri. *slugs it back*
Are your eyes okay? They look a little red. :)
*crawls over the railing and gazes at the wreck of the bar
Get yer flea bitten hide outta my cupboards, ya scabberous excuse fer a monkey!
Damn, it's gonna take me all day ta figure out what be missing. And where the hell is everyone? What is that...confetti? It's raining confetti?
*Glances up at the crowsnest. Boombox is pounding, confetti and cake crumbs litter the deck below the mast in an odd little circle. Ribbons and glitter continue to rain down, then scraps of wrapping paper...
How many people did she fit up there?
Happy b-day, Sinister!
Oh, I found a gift fer ya... http://www.piratemod.com/WhatsNewLink.html
WANT!!!
I have to wear one of those to work.
It’s glorious.
*giggling* Isn’t it Hells?
Yes, well, if I got emailed a PICTURE of a CUPCAKE, I'd be less startled.
*Throws confetti all over everything.* Someone get a hottie over here to clean that up.
And while the hotties are at it, I smeared some frosting on me accidentally. I need help cleaning it up.
I'll tell him to be thorough and to mind the nooks and crannies....
Oh my GOD!! There is one that is made for Sin!
Don't worry, it startled me too Hells. It was glorious though. Picturesque, even.
Marn, you're such a peach.
I have a feeling there is something the rest of us have yet to see. Why do I get the feeling GPS is involved in this?
Did I say thank you to you guys for the birthday wishes? I can't remember.
Di, I pray that your SIL comes out of the hip surgery with flying colors.
Marn actually made me want to go brush my teeth.
This blog is improving my hygeine.
*flinging confetti over the edge of the crow's nest* Party! *dancing around whirling glitter down from the heavens* Don't you just love a good Wednesday party?
You might have, but we've had several more drinks since then.
You're welcome, cupcake.
It's sort of like seeing a Unicorn. You can only see it once and for a second before it's gone and no one believes you that it was there. They just stop letting you hit the bong.
Ter, if I still had the pic (I had to delete it for obvious security and blackmail reasons) I would forward it into the group. But alas, the gloriousness is gone.
P.S. Your P.S. is apparently written in code, and I left my secret decoder spy ring (and my kazoo) at one of the Hotties’ homes. Please translate immediately.
Dear DRD,
My PS was not written in code. I mearly stated that you always pull out the sign that says, "You have to be this tall to ride this ride". I am taller than that so I am allowed occasional rides from the DRD.
Sincerely,
Evil Twin
PS. Please do not try to dry hump me. Like I tell the Undead Monkey, you're cute. Not my type.
I could use a bong hit right about now...
Here, Terri — some eye bleach and a Brillo pad. I’ll play the kazoo in the background while you do the hazmat routine
Best birthday mental image of all time. It's like you're playing brain bleach TAPS for her while she takes one for the team.
I think she said she’s qualified to ride you, but I’m trying not to think about that else I have to scrub the image from my brain.
It does crack me up that I only have to hint at it and you reach for the brain bleach.
I could use a bong hit right about now…
All that brain bleach will do that to you.
It's not the bleach, it's the PARTY PLANNING FROM HELL.
Who invites TWENTY more people a mere 48 hours before a private dinner?
Woohoo! Get the rum ready!
And the sailors.
Who invites TWENTY more people a mere 48 hours before a private dinner?
Pirates.
Party at Terri's house!
I forwarded the picture to you, Terri. Don't say you didn't ask.
You make it through the snow and tornadoes and thunderstorms between y'all and me, and I'll have a party waiting.
That's one hell of a head on that cupcake.
http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/10/god-of-cake.html
For some reason, I think Sin will appreciate this.
Actually after reading the blog again, I'm pretty sure Sin wrote it and it's a real life anecdote.
The pictures are worth seeing.
Not perhaps as the one I sent Terri, but whatever.
hahahaha!! I love it. The last four, of the kid looking like a snake who just had a meal? That's awesome.
OMG, she's got more like this blog! The one about traveling with dogs is about to make me pee my pants.
That’s one hell of a head on that cupcake.
Ter, I know.
*nodding* It's burned into my internal hard drive.
You're right. This blog sounds like it was written by me after a four day bender.
At least I don't need to bleach that image. I don't mind that one.
My god, I peed myself a bit when I got to the pictures.
Oh my god, I just died laughing at the hate spiral.
Because the thought of me peeing myself at my desk isn't disgusting at all.
Awesome, the cops busted someone outside the office. I love when the officer gets out of the car and marches up to the offenders car all determined and pissed off. Makes me want to go outside and cheer, "You're hard core. You're hard core."
That is the best cake blog ever.
I ate the entire cake. At one point, I remember becoming aware of the oppressive fullness building inside of me, but I kept eating out of a combination of spite and stubbornness. No one could tell me not to eat an entire cake - not my mom, not Santa, not God - no one. I would eat cake whenever I damn well pleased. It was my cake and everyone else could go fuck themselves.
And that is one of the greatest paragraphs ever written in the English language.
OMG, she is brilliant and now I must find the traveling with dogs one!
This is the dog one: http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/11/dogs-dont-understand-basic-concepts.html
And now one of my patient's is bringing me ice cream! YAY!
And I just scored one helluva birthday bonus! WOOHOO!
I swear, I was reading the one about the dogs, while sitting in Starbucks and realized laughing outloud with tears running down ones face isn't the most socially acceptable way of sitting with ones computer.
Could be worse, I could be fiddling with myself.
But I figured I better wait and share this with my husband, at home...later.
The one where she wonders if her dogs is retarded? Oh, save me Jesus.
Ice cream...oh, that sounds so good!
Damn, I needed that! She's now on my list of favorite blogs to visit.
2nd, I'm right there with you with the dog blog. It's even funnier than the cake--and I didn't think the cake could be topped, but it topped it in about 3 pictures.
It hurts to laugh anymore....
I warned my sis not to read this at work unless she wanted to entertain the whole office by peeing herself...
Sin, I swear, my month is now revived. Happy birthday pirate girl!
You have to read the one about the Park. OMG.
Thank you! This is the best birthday ever! With the greatest friends ever.
LMFAO. I can't laugh anymore. I'm gonna have to go to the bathroom and put a pad on to keep me from peeing myself like an out of control 2 year old.
She's on FACEBOOK!
We have to talk her into writing an adventure with writing pirates one... HAHAHAHAHA!
http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/06/this-is-why-ill-never-be-adult.html
You must read this one. This could've been written by me.
I know. I just hit her up on facebook. Awesomeness.
I want to be a Brick Conqueror when I grow up.
Did you see she has t-shirts, Sin!?
Terri - BTW, who invites 25 people to a private dinner two days before it's held? The people who don't organize the function!
Or VPs.
I know. It's all kinds of awesome. Considering I just got the shirt that says, "I lied. We don't have cookies." I need to back away from the t-shirts. LOL
Man, I spend an hour trying to convince my VP to stop trying to set me up with another employee, and y'all go all pants peeing in the place. I'll have to read these things at home, since now I'm an HOUR behind.
Chance - It was the OWNER of the company. What's up with him thinking he can do anything he wants?
Well, so much for telling him to go screw himself!
Make sure bladder is empty when you click on the hyperbole links...
Marn, you were so right. The Hate Spiral is classic.
I had fun today pirates!
And Texas.
I think I snorted coffee up my nose today.

OMG! She has videos1
I think I snorted coffee up my nose today.
Ooh? I've heard of coffee enemas ... So I'm guessing that you snorted coffee up your nose to clear your head!?
Oh f*ck.
Through my nose? Thought snorting it up the nose might see the caffeine arrive faster...
I'm saving the video for when I get home.
So. I'm quite pleased with myself. I worked out a piece that has been hanging over my head for two weeks. Yeah!
Okay. Two weeks is nothing’ compared to the amount of time you guys spend crafting your stories. And at 318 words … well NaNo-its-Not-O. But still? I’m pleased. I'm sure that I'll be quite UNenamored with it come morning. But what else is new? Normally I would post this on Facebook but Someone refuses to join. Brat.
So? I thought of posting it here. Then again? Nah … What I will do say is thanks for talking about the Scenic Routes, and asking the question “What happened to you in the month of November?”
Happy Birthday, SIN.
And Thanks for “the gift”
"Helloooh-helloooh? Anybodee-home? What the heck? No one is around no new blog no hotties-oooooh! I scared you guys off when I started talking about my NaNo-its-Not-O didn’t I? Common! I DIDN’T post it here. And the story wasn’t that bad. Umm … cept the part about the buffalo … and Custer … and the umm 'between 50 and 100 million died, making it one of the deadliest natural disasters in human history.’ bit.”
